La Linea Gotica - The Gothic Line - La Ligne Gothique

Tuscany is a land that was, for many months, a real border between freedom and tyranny. As the advance of the allied armies and the action of partisan forced the Germans to retreat to the north, the various areas of Tuscany became, for longer or shorter periods, a kind of watershed between the areas already liberated from dictatorship and from 'German occupation and those still forced under the brutal Nazi oppression.
The symbol of this part of history is represented by the "Gothic Line", which name was given to the set of fortifications built by the Germans, above the Apennines Tuscan-Emilian to defend the Po Valley after the allies from the south, traces of which are still visible in the area with stations, fortifications, the effects of the bombing. The battle for the breaking of the defensive line set up by the Germans along the Apennine ridge (the "Gothic Line") constituted a particularly important time for the consequences that will bring the war in Tuscany and in Italy in general.Lasted for eight months from September 1944 to April 1945 on a front stable, it has played an important role in determining the outcomes of the strategic conflict and post-war balance between the two blocs, remaining to this day a central theme in research historiography on the Second world War.The Battle of the Gothic Line has also harshly marked the life of the people of our region, the scene of clashes extended, bringing pain and destruction, but also favoring the encounter with different cultures and new lifestyles. The communities of Mugello, Alto Mugello and Val di Sieve for their geographic location, have been directly involved in these transformations at the turn of winter 1944-45, and have every right to develop a program of events dedicated to the Campaign of Italy with particular attention to events that have affected the Tuscany, the first battle of the Gothic Line.

Lucca Comics and Games 2013
Even the 2013 edition of Comics is behind us, and as always you can say it was a successful people. The costumes were wandering the city, were so many and of all types, some really well made and others less so, but the spirit was right, and it was all very funny. It is hoped that next year it will be the same. Wishing you a goodbye to Lucca Comics and Games 2014, post more pictures directly from the field:
